The purpose of this project is to innovate and optimize material selection while considering strength and cost. Testing will trial Polyvinyl chloride (PVC), 2014 Anodized Aluminum and Stainless Steel, three noncorrosive materials under 3 different positions. Calculations and selection will originate from analytical and numerical results. We will examine the 3D model in CREO Parametric and simulate the forces and environment acting on the wrist. Methods used to determine design: Von Mises Stress, Displacement and Modal Analysis. Ultimately, analysis point to anodized aluminum as best fit for the ROV wrist.
