Born and raised in Houston, Tx. Esteban A. Portillo, eldest of three, grew upon the values of honesty, respect and kindness. In highschool, he led the classroom in academics and community involvement. Esteban graduated from Channelview HS as a National Honor Society member with Cum Laude Honors. In addition, he directed multiple fundraising efforts for local hospitality and development institutions like Star of Hope, Red Cross and Relay for life though music concerts and community service events.
After graduating high school, Esteban knew he wanted continue higher education in the mathematics and sciences. He always had a strong inclination towards innovating for the unknown in aerospace to deep sea technology. Therefore, he began perusing a degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology at the University of Houston.
LEADERSHIP
Throughout his college engineering career, Esteban has continued to establish leadership around his peers. In 2015, he was granted the Succeed in Engineering Technology Scholarship given by the National Science Foundation awarding academically talented students in engineering. He lead organization's Presidential seat for the scholarship program that oversees 15 student leaders, 50 student scholars and multiple organizational operations.
COMMUNICATION
During his academic career, he served as Lead Engineer for his senior design team. Esteban made sure the team had a clear common goal while maintaining superior team communication. He managed to put his teammates in roles that best showcased there skill sets amongst the team. As a result, their project was graded as one of the premier project of 20 student teams. Esteban currently serves as Worship Leader for his local church, where he continually practices his leadership and communication skills amongst team environments.
PROFFESIONAL EXPERIENCE
Esteban has had the privilege to work on multiple engineering based projects in oil and gas as a mechanical engineer intern, field engineer assistant, pipe fitter & welder helper. At S&B engineers, he installed and inspected plant piping systems used for oil refining plants. The next summer at CSE W-industries, he worked with engineers to design structural based projects and mechanical pumping systems. Please see the projects tab for more information about Esteban's work.
